On the 3rd of October, Sasha Kononenko, Partner and Recruitment Lead at Values Value, gave an online lecture to students and graduates of the Finnish university, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK). She shared some insights on how and where to look for internships or junior positions in the games industry, what approach to use and how to increase the chances.
Sasha says about her experience: “I had the warmest greetings from KAMK students, it’s always a pure inspiration to see the young eager specialists with a strong desire to enter the games industry market.”
At Values Value, we always enthusiastically support such initiatives because we believe they contribute to the growth of the games industry. We make time for engaging and collaborating with universities, courses, or camps, provide mentorship, and strive to ensure that good initiatives reach as many people as possible. “Of course, I cannot evaluate the results right away, but I really hope that in the long-term perspective it will be useful for the graduates.” – says Sasha.
It is always hard for students to find their first job where they could show their skills, so we’re happy to help them in such a way, answering their questions. “I received some questions from the students like wouldn’t it be disloyal to apply to several companies, what is the difference between a cover letter and CV or how to better understand the companies’ approaches and culture with only the information from the internet.” – depicted our Recruitment Lead.
“I liked such an experience, it’s a great value to share our insights regarding the games industry market.” – Sasha summarized. We thank KAMK university, the entire faculty of the game development department, and Joonas Muhonen in particular, for such an opportunity to share our expertise and are looking forward to more such events.
