This time at Value Value we were looking for a Lead Developer for a small startup team that offers a unique combination of esports and gaming with FMCG retail. The client works with the Unity engine and AWS gamelift. We were looking for an experienced specialist with leadership qualities, but not necessarily a C-level one. Position was for the remote work only.
Project: Mobile, Esports, Gaming, FMGC
Desired Candidate Profile:
We needed a Lead Developer who would set the standard for technical work and be responsible for game development, including implementing new features and improving existing code. It was necessary to find a strong, hands-on manager who would manage outsourced engineers and create their own team of developers to work on complex and large-scale mobile games in the future.
Challenges:
The client was an unknown startup with no well-known projects. At that time, there was only one closed round of investments and a business plan.
Although, there were high requirements for candidates from the client and interest in specialists with experience in top companies of the industry.
Many candidates wanted to work with a more mature type of game, with a large corporation or PC/Console direction.
What Helped to Fill the Position:
The Values Value candidate database and maintaining communication with specialists helped to find a match fast. The candidate who was eventually hired has been acquainted with our team for over 3 years. This allowed the vacancy to be filled as quickly as possible.
Our team worked hard to find a specialist. Thanks to close cooperation with the client-company and using our own candidate database we managed to hire an ideal candidate in only 3 weeks.
On the Values Value side, the process was managed by Anna Vaschenko, our Recruitment Lead & Partner. Great job, Anna!
