What New Professions Will 2025 Bring?

  1. AI Roles: AI tools are becoming an integral part of both our daily and professional routines. As a result, companies are increasingly hiring or transitioning specialists within their teams to focus on research, R&D experiments, and optimizing workflows through AI.
If you’ve been answering in the Big Games Industry Employment Survey that you neither use nor plan to use AI, it’s time to start exploring. We wouldn’t be surprised if questions about AI usage become a regular part of interviews soon.
This means roles like AI Managers (Art/Marketing/Development) are likely to emerge as standard hires.
  2. Influencer Managers: The industry continues to leverage influencers to boost promotion and audience engagement. While traditional UA Managers will remain essential, we expect to see a growing demand for Influencer Managers to handle these collaborations.
  3. Economy Designers for Play-to-Earn Games: Play-to-earn games are still a fascinating niche, and new players (and developers) will likely keep entering the space. Creating successful projects in this area demands strong Economy Designers, so we foresee growing recruitment for this expertise.
  4. Metaverse and VR/AR: While 2025 could be a breakthrough year for the Metaverse, VR, and AR, we wouldn’t bet heavily on widespread hiring for these areas just yet. Predictions about their rise are frequent, but so far, we’ve seen more layoffs than large-scale hiring in these fields.
  5. Cross-Platform Game Developers: There’s a clear trend toward cross-platform game development. This is likely to create increased demand for developers skilled in creating seamless experiences across multiple platforms.

What about you? What professions do you think will be in demand in 2025?
