My Manager is Toxic and Makes Life Difficult for the Entire Team. Senior Leadership Doesn’t Seem to Notice. How Can My Colleagues and I Protect Ourselves? Our Company Doesn’t Have a 360 Feedback Process

Sasha Kononenko, Recruitment Lead & Partner at Values Value, shares her advice:

“I once had a candidate in a similar situation. They rallied their teammates, took the lead, and approached senior management to address the issue. As a result, leadership spoke with the manager, and eventually, the problematic manager was let go.

This is a great outcome, but it’s probably not the first step to take. Start by giving your manager feedback directly in a one-on-one meeting. Let them know, calmly and respectfully, what specifically isn’t working for you.

It would also help if others on your team felt comfortable sharing their feedback as well. If your manager is open to listening and willing to improve, you might start seeing positive changes over time.”
